FireEscape Coffee Roasting

Picture
After 20 years of being a youth coffeehouse ministry, the FireEscape Coffeehouse is finally roasting our own coffee! Since retiring from the medical field Mark has been looking for something to keep him busy. A year after retirement he has gone from practicing medicine to practicing coffee roasting! Mark's longtime friend and master coffee roaster, Tom Wheat, has teamed up with the FireEscape to teach Mark how roast coffee. In April 2017 the FireEscape purchased a used Ambex coffee roaster from a young man in Kansas City. We have has such a great response to the flavor and taste of our coffee- we have decided to begin selling our beans! By taking on this business, we have been raising support to help offset the cost of the roaster and green coffee beans. If you would like to contribute to this endeavor, please click the "Donate Now" button below.

We currently have several types of beans we roast in house!
$11.00 -$14.00 for 10 oz bag    $16.00 - $20.00 1 lb bag

    Colombia Huila Excelso

Picture
Colombia, known for its high quality coffee, is the second largest producer of coffee in the world and the largest producer of washed Arabica coffee. Colombia Excelso Huila comes from a group of small Rain Forest Alliance certified farms. This coffee has a well-balanced acidic taste, rich body, initial sweetness with slight notes of fruit, bittersweet, and a dark cocoa finish.

     Guatelmala Organic

Picture
Coffee is Guatemala's number one export contributing to the country's growing economic status. Because of its ideal geographic conditions, Huehuetenango is one of the best regions in Guatemala for great quality coffee production. Coffees from this region are exceptional coffees with sweet acidity, citrus and pleasant fruity notes, hints of strawberry and plum, solid body, balanced, chocolaty, and a clean aftertaste.

Decaf Colombian

Picture
These beans were processed using a natural decaffeination method. Many coffees are decaffeinated with the use of synthetic chemicals, which can negatively alter the taste of the coffee. However, by washing the beans using ethyl acetate derived from the natural fermentation of sugar cane, the chemical taste is avoided, and the flavors of this sweet Colombian bean are able to shine through.

FireEscape Blend

Picture
Every coffee roaster needs to have its own signature blend. We have created this house blend with our coffee drinkers in mind. This blend is a combination between Colombian and Guatemalan beans. It combines the best of the Guatemalan fruity tones with the Colombian chocolaty finish.

        Nicaragua Organic

Picture
Nicaraguan beans deliver a medium to smooth body and a moderate to bright acidity that is accompanied by a crisp, fruity, and clearly defined snap. The aroma has sweet caramel, citrus, and chocolate elements, while the coffee itself can have a very pleasant, balanced, and bittersweet flavor.

     Ethiopian "Heirloom"

Picture
Ethiopia is said to be the birthplace of coffee, meaning that at some point in time it was only naturally found here. The beauty of these is in their mystery. They are the wildflower varieties, descended from the natural coffee forests of southwestern Ethiopia. The flavour is inimitable, sensitive and delicate; from Ethiopian coffee one can sense notes of jasmine flower, bergamot and blueberry in aftertaste. The body of the coffee is not very strong and acidity is mild and pleasant.

                El Cafe' Espres

Picture
This is our special blend of Colombian, Brazilian and Guatemalan beans which marries flavors of fruit, chocolate, and citrus in a medium bold mix. Special roasting creates a lightly acidic, rich. full flavor that creates a creamy taste in the mouth.

         Brimstone Dark

Picture
Brimstone is our boldest and darkest roast. We roast small batches of Colombian and Guatemalan beans which blends these beans into toasted caramel and baking spice flavors. This coffee will wake you up in the morning!
